How to Get Your Plumbing Website to rank higher by using Google Authorship
Verified Authorship helps Google understand what your website and articles are all about. Google rewards websites that use verified authorship with richer search engine result listings, which can include images, company info, site links, and other calls to action (CTAs). These are all important because they improve click through rate (CTR)—basically, you’ll get more visitors to your website.
In fact, Google’s executive chairman and former CEO Eric Schmidt accidentally spilled the beans this week while promoting his new book, as reported by TechCrunch. He flat-out said that websites that use verified authorship to verify online profiles will rank higher in the search engine result pages (SERPs):
“Within search results, information tied to verified online profiles will be ranked higher than content without such verification, which will result in most users naturally clicking on the top (verified) results. The true cost of remaining anonymous, then, might be irrelevance.”
Authorship markup informs Google who the author of the content is. Google expects the author to have a Google+ Profile, and Google will use the information on this profile to enrich search engine results associated with that author.
First you need to sign into your Google+ account. If you don’t have one you need to get one here LINK. It would be a good idea to fill out your entire profile to the fullest.
Once you do that you should see this popup. And you want to add your plumbing website URL under the ‘Contributor to’ section. And then click save.
Once you have done that you should be done with your google+ tab for now, but don’t close that tab just yet… You need to open a new tab and pull up the backend of your Plumbing WordPress Website. Go to add new plugin and search for ‘Google Author Link’ and install and activate it.
If you do not already have the name of your google+ account as an ‘Author’ on your website then create one, by clicking ‘add new’ under the users tab.
If you just created an author or you already had one then click on the ‘users’ tab and under the author you want click edit.
By installing that plugin, you now have a new section when you click on edit a user. The new section allows you to add your Google+ Profile URL. Then click save.
